Jake" Simic and Robert Stupar opened the Brickyard Cafe in Bowling Green in 1998. As a result of its combination of Italian-Mediterranean food, friendly atmosphere and excellent service, it became a resounding success as a fine dining experience. In 2006 they opened a new Brickyard cafe in downtown Franklin. The restaurant is located in a early 1900's building that housed the Franklin Carriage Company and Hatter Hardware Company. In the main dining room, an old horse-drawn buggy is is suspended on the original manually-operated lift platform. The lift transported buggies and carriages to the second and third floor workshops for repairs.
The original glass-paneled front doors were also restored. The 10 foot high sliding doors of the private dining room provided entrance to the carriages in the back of the building.
They (Robert and Jake) have preserved some of Franklin's rich local history while recreating the ambiance of the cafes of the coastal cities along the Adriatic sea.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the Brickyard Cafe where the past and the present come together for excellent food and hometown hospitality.
Mediterranean and Italian Cuisine featuring Pasta, Gourmet Pizzas, and Daily Seafood specials. Fine dining in a relaxed setting. Carry-outs available. Occasionally there are special food and wine meals.
They have a fully stocked bar including fine wines.
